Quepos offers the best inshore and offshore fishing all through the year. This area is quite armoured to protect you from the northerly winds and you’re more likely to enjoy ideal weather most of the time of year. An unexpected rain could clinch your joy of pleasant weather especially in the afternoons between May and December.
Quepos sportfishing offers an array of fishes to be found. Billfish are quite popular among many anglers, which are more likely to be found between December through April. You are also able to catch around half a dozen sails and marlin on a regular fishing day which is quite common but not unusual. You will also likely to find Giant Yellowfin Tuna, Wahoo, Cubera, Roosterfish, and Snapper, Grouper, Blue Runners, Rainbow Runners, Snook, Jacks, Mackerel and much more. Costa Rica's sport fishing records speak for themselves: there were more than 70 current IGFA worked record fish from Costa Rica waters including 17 all - tackle marks.
You can either book a multi-day fishing trip to the Drake Bay or a full day fishing tour in the CaƱo Island area, overnighting at one of the several lodges centred on Drake Bay. This region is best known for its wahoo, big cubera and roosterfish, tuna, dorado, sails, and occasional marlin.
